Erica, originally from Auburn, Massachusetts, came to the University at Albany as an undergraduate freshman in August 2010. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Forensic Science in May 2014 as a participant in the Chemistry Department’s B.S./M.S. Program. Erica came to the Halamek lab in July 2014 as a second year Master’s student anticipating to complete the Master’s Program that year. After 3 months in the Halamek lab, Dr. Halamek and lab members convinced her to switch to the Ph.D. Program. Erica entered Ph.D. Candidacy in July 2016 and is anticipating to complete her Ph.D. in May 2019. Erica’s research is focused on the design and implementation of chemical assays that biological metabolites in order to identify originator characteristics from fingerprint content for forensics and clinical diagnostics.
