Jan Halámek

Dr. Halámek graduated from the Masaryk University where he also received his Ph.D in Biochemistry in 2003. From 2003 to 2006 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow, earning the Marie Curie Individual Fellowship, at the Potsdam University in Germany. In 2006 he joined the Department of Biophysical Engineering at Twente University in The Netherlands as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2008 he joined the Department of Chemistry at Clarkson University in the USA as a Research Associate, where in 2011, he became a Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Halámek joined the Department of Chemistry at the State University of New York, University at Albany in 2013 as a full time faculty member and established a lab of Bioelectronics within the frame of the Forensic Institute. He has contributed more than 70 scientific publications and book chapters and holds 3 patents. Dr. Halámek is on the editorial panel of the National Science Foundation (Nanobiosensors Program) and is a member of the reviewer board of numerous leading international scientific journals, such as Analytical Chemistry, Langmuir, Journal of Physical Chemistry, Analytica Chimica Acta, Biosensors & Bioelectronics, IEEE Sensors, Microfluidics & Nanofluidics, and Engineering in Life Sciences.

Fun Fact: Dr. Halámek has spent time in Potsdam, Germany and Potsdam, New York.
